Colombia hosts international workshop for ensuring sustainable trade in sharks listed in CITES

Santa Marta, Colombia, 27 November 2014 - More than 60 participants, representing over 20 countries, came from across the globe to Santa Marta, Colombia, from 25 to 27 November to participate in a workshop focused on the implementation of measures regulating the international trade in five shark species that were adopted at the last meeting of the Conference of the Parties of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) held in Bangkok in 2013.

FAO and CITES support India’s effort in coordinating the Bay of Bengal regional cooperation on sharks and manta rays

Geneva, 3 September 2014:  The Bay of Bengal Capacity Building Workshop on CITES Appendix II Listings of Shark and Manta Ray Species was held in Chennai, India from 26 to 28 August 2014. The workshop was hosted by the Indian Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change (CITES Management of Authority of India), in cooperation with the C.P.R.
