Regional joint preparatory meetings for CITES and CBD
meetings of CoP and COP/MOP in 2016
Africa, Asia, Central and South America and the Caribbean / Latin America and the Caribbean, Pacific / Oceania
We are pleased to inform the Parties that the Secretariats of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) and Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) have made arrangements to facilitate the convening of the regional or sub-regional preparatory meetings for the seventeenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the CITES (CoP 17), the thirteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the CBD (COP 13), the eighth meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (COP-MOP 8) and the second meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit-sharing (COP-MOP 2). The meetings are made possible by the generous financial support from the European Union (EU), and organizational cooperation from the Organization of American States, the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme, and the United Nations Environment Programme.
The purpose of these joint preparatory meetings is to convene a forum in which the agenda items of each meeting can be discussed and delegates can prepare for the meetings to take place later in the year.
