CITES and Timber: A guide to CITES-listed tree species

CITES and Timber: A guide to CITES-listed tree species

The aim of the guide is to introduce the tree species that are regulated under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of wild fauna and flora (CITES) and to provide guidance on the key issues regarding the implementation of the Convention for this important group of plants. The guide does not cover all of the woody and tree species regulated under CITES, rather it concentrates on those species found in significant trade for their timber and parts and derivatives or those newly listed in CITES. Subjects covered in the guide include understanding a CITES listing; which parts and derivatives are in trade and whether they are regulated or not; identification techniques available; and key resources on where to find more assistance or information.
