On the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the entry into force of CITES, the Permanent Representative of Switzerland to the United Nations Office in Geneva and the CITES Secretary-General hosted an official reception at the Natural History Museum of the City of Geneva on 1 July 2010, from 16h00 to 18h00.
Welcoming addresses were made by:
- John Scanlon, CITES Secretary-General;
- His Excellency Mr Dante Martinelli, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Switzerland to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva;
They were followed by interventions from:
- Her Excellency Mrs Betty E. King, Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the United States of America to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva;
- Mrs Muna Abbas Radhi, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the United Nations Office and Specialized Institutions in Geneva;
- Mr Thomas Jemmi, Deputy Director General of the Swiss Federal Veterinary Office;
- Mrs Sandrine Salerno, Mayor of the City of Geneva
The welcoming remarks and interventions were followed by the projection of a short film and a reception offered by the Swiss Government.
