DJIBOUTI

Withdrawal of recommendation to suspend trade

1. In Notification to the Parties No. 2002/064 of 19 December 2002 the Secretariat informed Parties that, pursuant to Decision 11.37, the Conference of the Parties recommended that, until further notice, Parties should not authorize any trade in specimens of CITES-listed species with certain countries as these had not provided adequate justification for their failure to provide annual reports for three consecutive years within the deadline established in Resolution Conf. 11.17. Djibouti was one of the countries affected by this Decision.

2. On 20 May 2003, Djibouti provided the Secretariat with its annual reports for the years 1999-2002.

3. The Secretariat therefore informs Parties that the recommendation to suspend trade in CITES specimens with Djibouti is withdrawn with immediate effect.
