Notifications to the Parties

CONCERNING:

Establishing a Technical Advisory Group (TAG)
for the programme to Monitor the Illegal Killing of Elephants (MIKE)

1. In response to Notification to the Parties No. 2000/025 of 23 March 2000, the Secretariat received, from a large number of Parties, nominations for membership of the Technical Advisory Group (TAG) of the MIKE programme. It wishes to thank them all for their co-operation.

2. The Secretariat is pleased to inform Parties that the MIKE Subgroup of the CITES Standing Committee has accepted the nominations listed in the enclosed table.

3. The TAG comprises representatives from all six sub-regions of Africa and Asia where elephants occur as well as co-opted technical experts, as provided for in the Terms of Reference for the TAG in Notification to the Parties No. 2000/025.

4. All nominees confirmed to the Secretariat their willingness to participate in the TAG according to the Terms of Reference established for this group by the Standing Committee.
